Where the fire purportedly started from "overheated copper wiring due to bad connectors", as stated by some experts. The spiral staircase was located just behind this wall. That is a burned Baccarat crystal wall sconce hanging down in the center of the wall, dangling. Others say the fire started in the basement, others say it was in the ceiling. What is known are numerous color photographs of the basement recently surfaced and show mysterious burn holes throught the ventillation ducts leading to the Zebra Room, which were not shown to anyone. The floor studs to the left in photo would reveal the fire came through the floor there in an enclosed spot next to the ductwork.
