Where firefighters come to talk training

ISFSI Live Fire Instructor Course

Last week Mr. L. Roig, and I had the great pleasure to be part of the newest NFPA 1403 Live Fire Instructor course designed by the International Society of Fire Service Instructors in Grand Rapids, Michigan; this credential program was designed for Fire Service Instructors who will be participating in live fire training, and may be operating in the capacity of Instructor In Charge (IIC) or Safety Officer (SO) during live fire training evolutions. For 24 hours participants were exposed to trades of the field used to fully understand the regulations, rules, and requirements of conducting live fire training as identified in NFPA 1402, Guide to Building Fire Service Training Centers, and NFPA 1403, Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions. Including a complete introduction to live fire training, preparation, training of instructors, live fire props inspections, non-gas fired structures, dealing with students, and live fire training evolutions.
Outstanding work performed by the members of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors, Mr. C. Hubbard, K. Giffin, B. D’ Agostino, and all of the members of the Grand Rapids Fire and Emergency Services for their professionalism, and making us feel like home.
