Where firefighters come to talk training

Puerto Rico Fire Department Academy

For the past few weeks I had the great honor to assist as an instructor the Puerto Rico Fire Department Academy in their one week fire fighting skills refresher course. The intent of this 6 week effort is for the PRFD instructors to present new skills, tactics, and strategies to the season, and new fire fighters on the field. PRFD put together a number of skilled, and season fire fighter to the task wich has been an eye opener for some, and a great learning environment for others. During these week long training, several subjects are cover to include: Ladder Bailouts, RIT Techniques, Forcible Entry, Denver, and the John Nacer Drills, Vertical Ventilation, SCBA Confidence Course, Class A, and B Fires, Search and Rescue, D/O Hydraulics, Foam Application, Hose Handling, Fire Streams, etc. My greatest appreciation for the invite, which has given me the opportunity to meet such of skilled persons, and to help others in becoming more proficient’s on the job; best of all it has given me the great pleasure to meet such skilled persons, and great friends. Thanks to PRFD Sergeant’s Figueroa, De Leon, Santiago, A. Santiago, Pastrana, Coto, Wilberto, Cardona, etc. (sorry if I missed someone) for making those long hours such a great time. See you in a few weeks.
