Rope Rescue Training Session / Corkscrew Technique

Rope Rescue Training Session / Corkscrew Technique

Fort Buchanan Fire Department personnel prepares for the worst; during this training evolution, personnel uses techniques presented by FE to safely lower an unconscious victim from a three story building using a corkscrew technique. This technique uses friction to assist on transferring the weight of the victim from the fire fighters carrying the backboard / victim to a life line, thus making this evolution safer for the personnel performing walking down the stairs (with the victim). The objective is to perform the skills using only tools and equipment found on the fire truck. For this session, member's used 200 feet of life safety rope (G), a foldable back board, and utility rope as a tag line.
