Bio:
I have 18 years of service with the New Haven Ct Fire Department. The last ten years I have been assigned to the Training Division as an Asisstant Drillmaster. Prior to that I was the assigned driver for Engine Company 8. Prior to that I was assigned to the department heavy rescue. I spent 23 years in the CT Army National Guard. In the National Guard I held three occupational specialties: Infantry, Intelligence Analyst, and Chemical Biological, and Nuclear specialist. I have worked in EMS for 14 years on a part time status for a commercial ambulance service.
I was privileged enough to attend a Region 1 TRADE meeting and discovered that departments were being told by certain PPE vendors that it would take up to eight weeks to recieve PPE due to the shortage of Kevlar. The Military has been utilizing the material to the point where it has extended the wait time for departments to get their PPE. So plan accordingly.
Welcome to the world's greatest training site. This is where the serious trainers come to train & learn from each other. Please allow me to invite you to the group called "HAZMAT PLACARDS TO SUCCESS". This group is for the firefighter, the EMA officer, and the HazMat Technician. I would love to hear what you have to say. This is a great time to join the group as our main focus is currently the first stages of the HazMat Incident.
