I am almost sure it is 25 hours of training.

Hi Gary! What level of training would you think the Code of Federal Regulations would allow Awareness, Operations, Technician or Specialists. If I remember correctly CFR only goes on competencies.

Hi Todd, The initial training for the following is as follows:

Awareness: 8hrs

Operations: 24hrs-to- 40hrs State dependent, most often it's 24 hrs of training

Technician: 40hrs-to-80hrs State dependent, it's the same with tech being 40 hrs in most states

Specialist: This depends on what specialty, usually between 40-80 hrs

One of my duties as an Asst. Chief is to ensure that the training officer makes the above training available to firefighters and once the initial training is completed the required continued annual education hrs are completed.
