Where firefighters come to talk training

Why is hose test length 300 ft in NFPA 1962 ?

NFPA 1962 tells us to test at 300 ft but what the reason for the length at 300 ft? I have been unable to find the answer via google , ask jeeves.com, etc. Thanks

Don i've never put to much thought into why it is only 300 ft. but I'm pritty sure it has to do with friction loss and available discharges on an apparatus. That was always an issuse with us when we tested hose in the past. We just recently purchased a hose tester. It recommends that we only use 300 ft. on each discharge. You may also want to post this on the start water groups forum.
