Where firefighters come to talk training

This is a after the fire related question. My friend Chief Scott Clark with Manhattan, Kansas Fire Department wrote an EFO paper on SCBA and VOC's. I am intrested in finding out what others do. Does your fire department take a VOC reading with a mulit-ray meter before allowing members to remove their mask? We have always taken a CO reading and allowed our mask to be removed below 35ppm however as I learned the VOC level can still be 10-15ppm. Chief Clark recommends removing mask once the VOC reading is below .01 ppm. This requires about 10-15min ppv. So what do you do? Can you recommend a meter that has preformed decient?

I am not aware of anyone who takes such readings before removing SCBA so I can't help you with the meter. Perhaps someone else in the group has had experience with them and can help.
Why not post a synopsis of the paper here so we all can review it?
