LG4 Emergency Vehicle Technician – Job Code: 310449 Total Compensation $128,051.40, Located in Kandahar, Afghanistan only 1 year commitment needed

Job Summary:

Responsible for all maintenance, repair and servicing of all fire vehicles and equipment.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Responsible for all maintenance, repair and servicing of all assigned fire vehicles and equipment to include structural Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARF) and ambulance apparatus.
• Maintains all equipment and vehicle records to include but not limited to various small engines and breathing apparatus recharging systems.
• Establishes/maintains effective working relationships with other employees assigned to assist with any and all repair work.
• Maintains gasoline and diesel engines to include drive trains, running gear components, pumps, pump valves piping and high and low pressure air system.
• Repairs, rebuilds, maintains and overhauls engines, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic assemblies used in the Fire Department.
• Evaluates the scope of work to be performed and determines whether to repair, rebuild or replace various parts or assemblies.
• Plans and schedules all aspects of a major repair or maintenance project.
• Diagnoses electrical or mechanical malfunctions by utilizing electronic test equipment.
• Diagnose and repairs problems on fire pumps.
• Maintains complete and accurate records of all apparatus and equipment, showing in detail all work done to the particular vehicle or piece of equipment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the Fire Department’s budget process and its impact on the department’s operation for all work assignments.
• Plans, assigns, coordinates, prioritizes, and follows through with activities necessary to support the mission of the Fire Department.

• Ability to diagnose electrical or mechanical malfunctions by utilizing electronic test equipment.
• Knowledge of budget processes and the impact they may have on a department’s operation for work assignments.
• Effective decision making and problem solving
• Attention to details and able to handle multiple tasks independently
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are necessary.

Physical Requirements:

Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable. Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.

Experience:

Typically, three (3) years of experience is required.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent
