Hi Todd,

The Incident Safety Officer operating during a Hazardous Materials Operation must meet the technician-level requirements of NFPA 472.

In cases where the incident safety officer does not meet the requirements of NFPA 472, the IC shall appoint an assistant incident safety officer or a technical specialist who does meet the requirements of NFPA 472 to assist with incident safety officer functions.
