Fire Engineering Training Community

Where firefighters come to talk training

I was browsing FireRescue Newsletter this morning, following the Houston fire truck "incident" from yesterday, when I looked at the other news links and was appalled to see how many fire apparatus "incidents" there have been. This is gettin gout of control. Do you see police cruisers colliding with each other? Ambulances? What ever happened to traveling with due regard? Clearing the intersection before proceeding? How, praytell, can two moving vehicles occupy the same space, at the same time? Isn't that why we have traffic control devcies? This is becoming an epidemic! I refuse to use the word accident, because there is no accident here. This is plain stupidity, disregard for V&T laws, lack of discipline from company officers for drivers rying to "beat a light" or "beat the other guys in", and lack of appropriate driver training/education. We should be ashamed of ourselves for allowing this to happen.
