Fire Engineering Training Community

Where firefighters come to talk training

Hey All,

As soon as I posted this I noticed the previos discussion on CAFS. I must not have been paying attention and missed that one. Anyway I still have questions so any new information for the question below would be appreciated.

We have CAFS on all of our engines. The sales people at Pierce did a good job of selling this stuff but we never had a training plan for tactical application. Also, we have not got a handle on how it affects our field hydraulics and classroom instruction for engineers. Have any of you had these same issues? Does anyone have SOP's and/or training programs that address this issue. Is there a subject matter expert out there who can teach us the appropriate time to apply CAFS, and when not to. I am a safety based tactical officer and want to do my part to reduce the 100. Any information and ideas are appreciated!

Thanks,
Sean

Sean,
The Lt. on my shift works on as a Volunteer with a Dept that has at least one CAFS Engine. I'll get with him on Saturday and see if he can get me a copy of their SOG. In fact, most of the Departments around here use CAFS and I'll pass the word and ask them to post up.
