Don i've never put to much thought into why it is only 300 ft. but I'm pritty sure it has to do with friction loss and available discharges on an apparatus. That was always an issuse with us when we tested hose in the past. We just recently purchased a hose tester. It recommends that we only use 300 ft. on each discharge.
