Mike, we used a "torpedo" style kerosene heater in a room. it takes a while to heat the room up but provides a good consistant heat for a drill. if you have a large structure you can start by showing your students how to follow the thermal layer to the seat of the fire.

You can show the difference in contrast as you get closer to the seat of the fire.

If you have a camera with the different colors (red or yellow) that indicate higher heat, you can show how the lower contrast leads the color and one color always leads to the second color. For example, our cameras have yellow and red the yellow indicates high heat but not the highest, so if you see yellow on the camera screen it will always lead you to red (next room, inside a wall, etc.) .

Brian, Thanks again for your powerpoints. I used some slides in my powerpoint. A lot of the the information that I got came from the materials that came with our Bullard camera. A lot of great training material came with the camera. Attached is the powerpoint. Take a look and let me know your thoughts.
