Where firefighters come to talk training

What are you protocols SOP's/SOG's that govern your workout time on shift?
Does you department give you the time to plan and prepare healthy meals?

Just wondering??

Initially we were not allowed to work out while on duty. Our firefighters pushed for work out times with no prevail until we did extensive research on knee injuries and workers compensation. We found that research says that workers compensation will reduce their fees by 5% because they feel work related knee injuries drop. This helped us a lot because we had a few guys on medical with work related knee injuries. Our rules are to check equipment before we work out. Still some guys do and some guys do not!

Good post!

Shawn, we have no set protocols, but a local fitness club has provided memberships free to all members of my dept. We go on duty every shift and with this benefit our members can use the facility on off days as well, for the members that live close. We are fortunate, this is not mandatory, but, 95% of our guys work out at least every shift. We generally stay between 1-2 hours a day. We get plenty of time and are encouraged to fix healthy meals as well. Hope this helps
