The North American Fire Officer Leadership Learning Survey
A few years back a consultant asked US Army brass how they learned their leadership skills – and the answers were surprising, and important to those who need to plan the development of new officers and to expand the skills of incumbent officers. Ascend Leadership (the folks that developed The Right Seat DVD series with Fire Engineering) have developed a survey that asks North American fire officers how you “learned” your leadership skills.
The results of the survey will be presented at the FDIC during The Right Seat Leadership presentation on Tuesday April 21, 1:30 and again at The Right Seat – A Volunteer Perspective on Thursday April 23 at 3:30. We will also conduct a live survey during the presentations. The results will be included in a later Fire Engineering article.
The survey is “live” right now at http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/ascend/nafo/.

The routes of learning we all expect to be the primary methods for learning leadership are not what the survey is reflecting so far with a little over 100 responses. Please join in!!!!
