Bio:
Sidney Lucas is a Lieutenant with the Newport News Fire Department and is assigned as a Shift Safety Officer and has been with the department for 10 years. He is also a former Chief of Quinton Volunteer Fire and EMS in New Kent County, VA. He has over 17 years of fire service experience that includes volunteer-suburban, volunteer-combination, military, and urban-career. Sidney is a graduate of the Virginia Fire Officer’s Academy and is a veteran of the United States Navy. He holds an Associates of Applied Science in Fire Science and a Bachelor’s of Science in Occupational Safety and Health. He is certified at the Instructor II and Fire Officer III level through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs as well as an AHA and ITLS instructor.

Sidney is a State Advocate and instructor with the National Fallen Firefighter’s Foundation (NFFF) and has committed the past several years to researching behavioral health in the fire service and is currently the lead on implementing a comprehensive behavioral health program within his department.

He is also co-owner of Colonial Training Solutions located in New Kent, VA which specializes in training and consultation in areas such as leadership, safety, fire, Hazmat, and EMS where he has taught courses for various departments and industries.
