- Started as a Volunteer in 1986 with the St Matthews Fire District, then joined McMahan Fire & Rescue, rising to the rank of Captain.
In 1993, enlisted in the US Coast Guard, serving on the USCGC Spencer in Boston, MA, and at Station Grand Haven in Michigan.
Upon completion of active duty enlistment, was hired as a career firefighter by the Muskegon Fire Department. I am the driver for Engine 23, covering the downtown district as well as second due for the rest of the City. Our crew also operates Rescue 73, our fire/rescue boat, covering Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan.
I also worked for the Muskegon County HAZMAT Team as a Specialist from 1999-2004.
When I'm not on-duty, I'm spending time with my three daughters.

Use Incident Critiques To Learn All You Can
The title of this article may sound pretty basic, but there are too many times in which critiques narrow down to a couple of events or even a single action during an incident. The result is a misguided but well-intentioned lesson that doesn’t focus on the overall incident.

Introductions
Hello all. I am new to the Fire Engineering community and am looking forward to sharing information which will not only help us stay safer, but maybe even put a smile on our face.
