escaping from and leading others from the worst fire in the united states in the last 65 years.
Areas of expertise:
author of the book "inside the beverly hills supper club fire" also I speak to groups about this fire.
Bio:
72 years old. US Navy, 1954-1957. design draftsman in industry including 5 years with general electric drawing up jet engine parts. worked part time at the beverly hills as a banquet captain. the club was packed with 2600 patrons on may 28, 1977 when fire swept through in minutes killing 165 people, from the 2nd floor I was able to lead some 100 patrons to safety after being tropped for at least 5 minutes. Navy fire training helped me there. for 4 days straight I lead investagators through the wreckage and on the 4th day pointed out a spot where I thought some bodies may be found and they searched that area and found the last 2 bodies, they were from my group on the 2nd floor and had fallen through to the 1st floor. Several years ago I spoke to most of the fire chief''s of oregon about the fire and I have lead many groups through the site which is now like a jungle. I am currently working on obtaining a site for a permanent memorial.
