Born in southeast Missouri but raised in Indianapolis. Graduated from Perry Meridian High School on Indys south side. Attended Vincennes (IN) University in southwest Indiana and joined the fire service in May of 1992. Spent the first part of my career with the Brownsburg Fire Department in suburban Indianapolis until moving to the Wayne Township Fire Department in Indianapolis. Our department is a career, urban department serving 170,000 residents on Indys westside. We are in the city limits of Indy and serve a very diverse and busy area of the city. We operate five engines co.'s and two ladder co.'s along with a shift commander, shift safety officer, and four paramedic ambulances. Our ambulances are staffed by civilian EMS personnel. We responded to almost 11,000 calls for service in 2007 with over 180 of those being working fires.
