William L. Tanks currently holds the position of Chief of Training for Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services. CCFES is funded for 675 fire personnel, with 4 battalions, 29 stations, and serves a county of more than 700,000 citizens.
At the rank of Fire Captain, William decided to give something back to the fire service and department that had given him a career of passion; he began the Cobb Officer's Forum. The results have been astounding with the formation of Metro Atlanta Fire Officer's Association, two Metro Firefighters Conferences, three Fire Officers Forums within the region, and four FDIC instructors.
William holds a B.S. in Management and has served as an adjunct Instructor for the local Fire Science program. Chief Tanks is the recipient of many awards and is an active member of the ISFI, TRADE, and the Metro Atlanta Fire Chiefs Association.
