Bio:
Started as a paid-on-call FF/EMT for two years on a combination department (Blue Island). Was hired as a Firefighter/EMT on a career department (Danville). Retired as a Lieutenant after 21 years of service. Now I am the training officer for the local volunteer department.
Hey Rick, I just noticed you started on BI. That's where I got my start as a cadet and then part time. Spent about 15 years there before I got hired on Downers Grove full time and have had a great 22 year career so far. Got a lot of experience from that place. BE SAFE Brother.

My problem is Ive got a gap between my young and older firefighters.
I understand that the older guys have families and other things to do,
but so do I. As a training officer I have to put in at least double of what
they do but they don't see that. We currently only require 12 hours of training a year and I've got some guys with no hours and it's August. I try to make things fun and try new things and I do the old routine things toobut can't seem to get them here. Any suggestions would be very helpful......
