Where firefighters come to talk training

Great video again from Dale Pekel. You can find his stuff on YouTube and he is very precise and specific with is instruction. Obviously, this type of system is not for everyone and not all firefighters carry a harness on their gear. But the information is very informative and important.

-As a firefighter that uses a personal escape system and harness and as a fire service instructor, I must say that this is one of those topics that a video link like has the potential of being disastrous. This type of training must be conducted in person, in a classroom, reenforced with hands on training and take place under the supervision of a competent, qualified instructor.
-As a tool for sparking interest the video may be fine but there are those that may view this as all the pertinent training needed and believe themselves qualified after seeing this clip.
Mike,
Your right, the idea behind posting any video, picture or article is to provide information. It is a tool to make aware that there are resources available to be sought after for new training ideas or for re-learning. Hopefully, the folks where these are posted understand that.
It is no different then if they went and bought a rope rescue book and then decided that they could make rope rescues without any practical skills training and evaluations.
But, I think that these types of videos offers people the opportunity to contact the creator or to take them back and apply them with a skilled and experienced instructor. We can only provide the information that might save someone or keep them out of a bad place, we can't fix stupid.
