Bio:
I am 56 years old and have been married for 30 years to my wife, Cheri. We have a 27 year old son, Ryan. My personal faith, family, friends, and my vices are my priorities, in that order! My passion is FIREFIGHTER SAFETY!

I have been on the job 23 years and have served the last 20 years as a captain with the Bismarck, ND Fire Department. I am a certified US Department of Labor Journeyman Firefighter, NREMT-B and hazardous materials technician. I am NDFA (North Dakota Firefighter’s Association) certified FFI & FFII; Fire Instructor I & II and am a FFI & FFII certification tester. I also serve as an adjunct instructor for the ND Fire Marshal’s Office. I currently am serving on the ND Homeland Security / Department of Emergency Services Hazardous Materials Technical Resource Committee. I am extremely proud to serve as North Dakota State Advocate Coordinator and facilitator, for the “Courage to Be Safe, Everyone Goes Home” program. 2009 recipient of CTBS challenge coin. I was nominated and a finalist for the 2009 National Seal of Excellence Award. 2010 recipient of the CTBS and Order of Sleepless Knights Challenge Coins. I was nominated, also a finalist and recipient of the 2010 National Seal of Excellence Award. I was privileged to have been asked to work with Frank Ricci on the power point review team for Fire Engineering's Handbook for Firefighter I and II.

I served as the president of IAFF Local 2468 in Bismarck for 10 years, and also held the office of president, and have been a lobbyist in the North Dakota Legislature the past from 1988 through 2008 for the Professional Firefighters of North Dakota. I currently serve on the board of directors for the North Dakota Firefighters Hall of Fame and Museum. I have attended the National Fire Academy, ICHIEFS International Hazmat Conference, FDIC, National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Everyone Goes Home® Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives National Safety Summit, and ND State Fire School. I have instructed and tested at many local and regional fire schools as well as the North Dakota Sate Fire School for the past 20 years.
