United Fire Company
Safety Officer
Years of public service:
Agency structure:
Volunteer fire department
Top issues in your department:
My concern is the Mine set of the company. I struggle with it, only to find, that they are not subject to change. Established in 1847, they still read from book "That is the way we have always done it" Fine and it does work. I have been a part of it. Old Dog's can learn some new Tricks.
Professional Qualifications:
I have served 5 years with my current Company.
My training was New York based. I am an E-Chief of a combined dept, Located on Long Island N.Y. 2451 Runs per year. This is on the backs a Vol Department.
Topics you provide training for:
Safety first. Starting with Clothing, and proper mind set, cleaning up and prepareing for the next Job. Teaching them to operate in the "Skill Zone" NOT the "Luck Zone"
Areas of expertise:
In house training for the firefighters New and old. A good team is just that training, working side by side, until the task is compleated.
