Bio:
Fire Chief Daryl Cook currently serves as the North Carolina Air National Guard Fire Chief at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. He has over 21 years experienced specializing in Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF). As Fire Chief, he works as the coordinating member for all emergency service exercises and certification issues within the organization. Additionally, Charlotte/Douglas International Airport utilizes Chief Cook to establish FAA/ICAO training requirements to ensure all certification methods comply with applicable standards.

During his career, he has served as Airport Fire Fighter, Driver/Engineer, Fire Inspector, Hazardous Material Technician, and Nuclear Biological Chemical (NBC) Federal Trainer. Chief Cook, working through the Department of Defense instructs first responders in NBC type events. These responders may then go to their respective agencies to train them to prepare for a terrorist type incident. MSgt. Cook has worked in both the civilian and military sector of public safety giving him the ability to relate his experience. As a DOD HazMat Train-the-Trainer he is in charge of training base personnel in Hazardous Materials beginning with the Awareness through the Technician level. Chief Cook is also an instructor for the On-Scene Commanders Course through Maxwell AFB. This course provides an overview of what a Commander may be exposed to in the event of a Natural Disaster, Aircraft Crash or other major incident.

Both the Army and Air National Guard have utilized Chief Cook immediately after Sept 11, 2001. On Sept 16, 2001 he was requested through Army National Guard Readiness Center to staff the Civil Support Team Cell managing the response and readiness in support of Operation Noble Eagle. Additionally, he assisted in establishing the Airport Security Program within the Army and Air National Guard. Chief Cook served in the Homeland Security Section supporting this effort.

Chief Cook served as Fire Protection Program Manager at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida supporting Air Force Fire Emergency Services in all fifty states and all military installations overseas. During his tenure he managed the training, wartime readiness and equipment needs for all Air Force Fire Protection Major Commands. He implemented training requirements for Combat Skills Training for fire fighters supporting Army backfill requirements and established baseline training for all other Air Force firefighters.

Chief Cook is International Fire Service Accreditation Council (IFSAC) certified Fire Fighter II, Airport Fire Fighter, Fire Instructor III, Fire Inspector II, Hazardous Materials Technician Train-t-Trainer, Fire Officer IV and a member of the NBC NLD Federal Training Team administered by the Department of Defense
