Go to http://csxhazmat.kor-tx.com/ they will send you free guides. The CSX Transportation Public Safety and Environment department provides training and emergency planning materials for emergency response agencies free of charge. On this website, you can request the following items:

Community Awareness Emergency Planning Guide
Emergency Response to Railroad Incidents Self Study Guide
Emergency Response to Railroad Incidents Self Study Video
Locomotive Emergency Response Operations Video
Try this one.

Before I started with the fire department I spent several years working for CSX. I will call some old bosses and get some of the training aids we had to work with. It will take a few weeks but I should get some excellent material for you and anyone else that might need them.
The csx site is the place to go. Their TRANS CAER program will bring a training program to you! Free of charge! The CSX has regional managers. The Regional Manager will be your contact to set up the training. We did it here in 2008 for all our Haz Mat Companies and it was superb. Expertly presented information got to the point with plenty of up close contact time with the equipment. It was well received. I've uploaded a couple photos for you. The Railcar2003 ppt is good. If possible have someone from the railroad present the training. There is a very good article from Nov 08 Fire Engineering titled, "Responding Safely to Railroad Emergencies: Locomotive Systems and Operation" that is available via the archives.

Just a quick bit of information you might want to look at. There is a free website that you can upload larger files to, and the recipient gets an e-mail telling them to follow the link, at which time they download it. Check this out: yousendit.com
I hope this is helpful in the future.

Thanks for the info so far. I have tried the CSX website but they are not in our area and so will not give us any info.

Mr. McKee,

I know this is an old post, but if you are still willing to pass on the DHS powerpoint, I would appreciate it.  Please feel free to contact me at 240-432-7941 or reply to this post.  I have an account with dropbox, so you would be able to log in to my account and drop the file in there.  Please let me know if you're able to help me out as soon as you're able.  Thanks.
