I am looking to see how other states test to the standard. Does your state dictate one book or do they have tests for all three of the main books that are available? Please indicate your state when replying.
CT tests off two of the main books, however not all the questions are reconciled between both texts. This strikes me as absurd. We are working to get the State to adopt one book or develop a test for each text.
In Pennsylvania, because we are a commonwealth, the state has no authority over emergency services. The authority is at the lowest level of municipal government. That being the case, some of the more urban cities or counties have their own training center, and they decide which book(s) they will utilize. The more rural areas either utilize the state fire training academy, or they do something own their own, in-house.
Fortunately for us in Bucks Co.,PA, we have our own Public Safety Training Center, administered by the Bucks County Community College (BCCC-PSTC). The BCCC-PSTC teaches and tests to IFSAC and/or PRO BOARD standards. The books for these classes vary.
Stay Safe and best wishes in the New Year.
