I have received 2011 Can-Am Outlander 650 EFI 4x4 Utility ATV for my department. This was an item that was dated that we were not expecting. I have very limited experience and familiarity with ATV's. Can anyone recommend some useful sites/articles as well as forward any training programs, SOP's and recommendations? I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Our agency has a Polaris Ranger 6x6 that we use for rescues and wildland fire support. We haven't developed any specific SOP's for it's use; however we limit who can drive it to those members who have the maturity to understand the dangers of ATV use. It is not in the same class as you new unit - ours has a roll-cage and seatbelts, so it is much the same as operating a brush truck as far as driving operations are concerned.
A good place to check for SOP's might be with patrol units such as Sheriff's Offices and /or beach patrol units.
Not much info, but I hope it helps.
Take care & be safe.
