Where firefighters come to talk training

What kind of training and how often do you do Haz-Mat Training? Is it all classroom or is it all practical, or a combination of the two? Is the training just for Haz-Mat Team members or everyone in the station? Do you involve your paramedics to see how they might respond or treat a chemical exposure?

Our program is set up to train with all the team members. (4 shifts), one month will be fire, following month will be haz-mat. (scenario based training)
haz-mat training will cover the core operations; R&I, Decon, EMS, Safety, ICS, Air Monitering, Incident Action Plans, Incident temination, and debriefing.
Brent, I will see what I can do.
A great tool that you can use to build your own scenarios is found at www.simopsstudios.com the software is free now and it is called CODE3D. I use it for my classes and will be using it in my presentation at FDIC
HazMAt Training is over looked a lot of the times. FIrefighters would rather train on something that tey think is more important like search rescue and things like that. THe guys I work with get HazMat Training because I like to quiz them and keep them in touch with things like dress out , the ERG and other things. I like to put a placard on the bathroom stall with an ERG in the reading bin.
