We start out with the basic double breasted suit. Then we change to gold piping on the sleeves. Gold buttons, gold hat band and a different badge/hat device. Epaulets have been added to the shoulders of the jacket and we wear gold or red braid as required. There is no rank device on our uniforms.
We keep it simple. We start with our department Class A and change the buttons, badges and hat to gold. Add epaulets for the shoulder cord. Normally a white cord, red for LODD and white parade belt with gold buckle and white gloves. Having attended the FDIC National Honor Guard Competition for the past 9 years I have seen just about every kind of uniform out there. Everything from the simple to the extravagant. We have had (sometimes heated) discussions about adding a US flag to the shoulder, adding more pins, tabs, etc. striping to the legs and a few other additions. I believe the more simple the better, especially since we have to pay for our own uniforms. Easier to maintain, easier to get the new guys started, few things to screw up.
