The call for water goes out once the nozzle has reached the point of entry. We don't have anything prior going on except checking the stream. Unfortunately, we are only able to get one line in operation most times.
One thing that was metioned earlier was that they like to go in with fog nozzles and i dont think alot fo people know how much water there actually getting out of those with a regular combo nozzle your lucky to get 95 gpm with 125 psi that just doesnt cut it as far as im concerned when you can get 180 gpm at 50 psi from a smooth bore this is on 1-3/4 hose its all bout gpms vs btus and if you never over come the btus your never gonna put the fire out until if burns down enough that you can over come them and a wide fog does not protect you in a flashover your best defense is a straight or preferable solid stream up high to school down the super heated gases
well in a residential fire it is always charged before we go into the front door on a residential fire i like to think of the entire building as the fire areas on a high rise it is charged on the floor below the fire floor
