Darin,
I can't speak for the other publishers out there fire service but I know here at fire engineering magazine all of our features are peer-reviewed by at least three industry experts before they're published. Likewise all of our textbooks are peer-reviewed and sent out to members of our advisory board and other industry experts for their input and edits before the final product is ever released. I know that our friends over at IFSTA use boards and peer review as well for their publications.
Thank Chief.  That is what I was wanting to know.
