Where firefighters come to talk training

As you can imagine, we had a lot of conversations this month regarding putting together the Bedroom Fire and use of PPV/PPA or conventional/traditional means for fighting the fire. We wanted to strike a balance to provide a sim that could be used with multiple tactics.

What things, good and bad, do you feel this sim brings out?

Hey, just used this sim for a tactical assessment. Thought this one was pretty good in it's ability to adjust to traditional vert vent or ppa/ppv.
I think that you achieved that balance with this one.
The only drawback to this particular scenario is the smoke on arrival was a little difficult to detect until you vented the CD windows. Nice job transitioning the knock down smoke, especially in the attack.
Thanks for the feedback, Mark, we're glad you found it useful!

I can understand what you are saying regarding smoke on arrival. If you don't mind starting at a more fully-involved level, you can start the smoke conditions at state '2' or '3' (pressing 2 or 3 on the keyboard). '4' gets the eaves smoke going which may be too much. You can press these keystrokes even during the responding screen.
For those of you who want to learn more about PPA/PPV, I just saw Chief Kriss Garcia's (and Reinhard Kauffmann's) workshop announced for FDIC 2009, Monday, April 20, from 8AM to 5PM, "Positive Pressure Attack: Theory and Application." After working with Chief Garcia on this scenario, I can bet this will be a good session to learn the in's and out's of using PPA from experienced instructors.
