Ordinary, yet Extraordinary

Never Forget....

Who could have ever imagined what that beautiful September morning would turn into... the thousands upon thousands of lives impacted. Many, never ever to be the same.

The inscription found below the photos of the members of the firehouse where I was assigned as a fireman that died September 11th, 2001 reads: "There was a time when the world asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things..."

They were indeed 'ordinary' in their own individual ways, some odd, some comical, cynical, some fathers, most fairly handy, smart, a few even mustached... but ALL members of the FDNY... a part of a group of men who helped lead thousands of civilians to safety that horrific day. 343 gave their own lives, while saving others. Keep them, their families and those who continue to fight sicknesses related to their time spent searching the rubble for survivors and loved ones remains in your thoughts and prayers this week. In the past 13 years, nearly 100 members have died as a result of their exposure at the world trade center, hundreds more still remain sick...

Hug your loved ones tight tomorrow and every tomorrow, for life in indeed precious and far to short.
