Where firefighters come to talk training

DENVER - In its third year, Tilted Kilt raised thousands of dollars for local firefighters and child burn victims with the help of a few stair stepper machines.

Participants climbed for three minutes and made a donation to local charity.

The event at Tilted Kilt Downtown Denver was for the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund Colorado Chapter. The organization assists both professional and volunteer Colorado firefighters and their families with education, medical bills and support.

The event at Tilted Kilt of Denver Tech Center benefited the Children's Hospital Burn Unit, as well as 5280 F.O.O.L.S., a local chapter of firefighters in the South Denver Metro Area and the Children's Hospital Burn Unit.

In 2012, Tilted Kilt raised over $8,000 and the goal this year is $15,000. The final total for this year is pending. Broncos players Louis Vasquez and Manny Ramirez made an appearance at the Firefighter Party at the Downtown Tilted Kilt location.

The annual fundraiser is a pre-event to the annual Red Rocks Amphitheatre Climb on Wednesday. The 9/11 Stair Climb at Red Rocks begins at 9:02 a.m. Check in begins at 8 a.m. The route is designed to equate to 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers.
