I wish I could go to Maine...... the new baby is due in June 13th. I think the wife would be upset if I left a few days later. Just tell everyone you will be taking my place! They'll tell you what to do! LOL
I too wish we had more time to talk, we'll meet for a beverage soon!
Couldn't return your call yesterday, but noticed that you had rung up. Couldn't find a message niether, howsomever --...I think we'll set! I'll pass that info to Ben Simmons, he'll probably want in on it.
Woke this am to find Ryan M. in the station, he's back in the 'Banks and testing at NPFD.
Here in Fairbanks the daunting task is just that.I was lucky enough to get a guy from Scotland to be my tutor for awhile anyway. Angus played the pipes along with another fellow at Phils's wake. They are both with the Red Hackle Band and I went to their practice on Tues. and just watched and listened and learned. Angus has been nothing but great in getting me started and we had our first lesson last night at College coffee. He says if I keep it up I will be good piper one day and he is even giving me free lessons because he also see's the need in our community for a piper who is not an outsider or once removed from the fire service in our area. I am learning lots and my fingers get tired so it is a real learning experience. Have you joined the Pipes and Drums group on here yet? It has a lot of info that will help us out.
Part time department? Well, well. Becoming a two-toner, eh? Good on yah, the missus not keepin' you busy with honey-do's?
I'd be happy to send you some Memorial stickers. I know I have your address, but send it again. As for the BC position. Well, I did a really good job of convincing the board that I really like being a Captain. I wasn't blazin' a trail to be the BC. My heart wasn't there, too soon after the funeral, not wantin' to drive the fire SUV for the rest of my life, ...I dunno. Greg Coon of Kenai, (formerly of North Star Fire back in the day) has won it, and we'll see him around the end of the month.
I was thinking about starting one for Alaska but I'm not sure if it would go over to well or how I would get all the info from around the state. Got any pointers.
Not sure if you know we lost another brother here today...Mike DeVaughn from Eielson AFB Asst. Chief (Ret).

Hows life in Indiana? I'm taking the big step to learn the bagpipes...lucky me! I hope to be one of the first to play the pipes as a firefighter.
