To All:
It is my unfortunate duty to inform everyone that my brother's son Carson has been diagnosed with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. Curt is a firefighter in Morris, IL where he lives with his wife and son. Carson is only 20 months old right now, and finding this disease this early in a child's life is not only rare, it was a fortunate accident. Typically, this disease does not manifest itself until a child is about 5 years old and starts to become unsteady on his feet and fall frequently. We are hoping that the early discovery of this disease will provide more options for treatment/therapy.
As you can imagine, it has been a very tough couple of months for Curt, his wife Kelly and our entire family. We first heard that he may have MD about 3 days before my wedding in July. The results were confirmed in late August. Curt and Kelly have done a great job with this and are stronger parents than I could ever hope to be. Carson is already enrolled in MDA and he is awaiting his initial doctors visit at Rush Hospital in Chicago. At this time, Carson shows no signs of Muscular Dystrophy and continues to be a happy kid (nearing two years old). He shows that he is normal by throwing stuff, climbing the shelves in the refrigerator, climbing the couch and by throwing tantrums.
With that said, the brothers and sisters (wives) at the Morris Fire Department have put together a fundraiser/benefit to defer costs that will accrue in the future. The account will be used for expenses not covered by insurance (special treatments, travel, etc…).

The flyer has all of the time and location information as well as where to make a donation if you so desire. If you have trouble viewing the flyer, please feel free to either email me here or personally at ndemarse@gmail.com.
I wanted to personally invite everyone in this group (that is in the area) to make the trip to Morris on November 8th for a good cause.
Thank you for your time,
Respectfully,
Nate DeMarse
