Fire Engineering Training Community

Where firefighters come to talk training

Are you feeling drowsy? Lulled to a sense of slumber by the pleasant handshaking, smiles, and promises of utopia? Have the photo-ops and media exposure left you with an exaggerated state of importance? Well here's a wake-up call: YOU'RE IN FOR A BIG SHOCK, BUDDY!!  Politicians promising everything this side of the moon is as old as... well, politicians. Yes, some are genuine in their support, but beware of the proverbial wolf in sheep's clothing! Do your homework, know the issues and people that will effect your job, your department and your family.

Your livelihood and job conditions literally ride on your ballot selection!

This is a great one. Posted on the FE Blog a few days ago a related article asking "How many politicians does it take to unscrew a light bulb". In that article was the apathy and complicit action of some Mayors and fire chiefs stating that reductions will not hurt the community and firefighters. Also mentioned the Fire Chief who left the job after his EMS program was outsourced. We have a rocky road ahead in these turbulent times.

You are so right on with this illustration.
