Hi, Sonny: Quite simply, as leaders, we can not set a bar so high that it can never be achieved. There is nothing wrong with expecting great things or pushing your people to reach their potential - but set obtainable goals. Nothing is more discouraging than working for someone who can never be pleased. Vince Lombardi once said "Expect perfection, and you'll get greatness" - just make sure greatness isn't a superhuman expectation.

(my spelling sucks, sorry)
Paul,
I am not really sure where you are going with this one. Yes I understand that our chiefs, officers, brothers and sisters, and more importantly the people we serve, have (and should expect) great expectations from us. We know this is a tough (but fun and rewarding) job, and yes I understand the things we are asked and sometimes told to do seem unending. We just need to remember, that it's not impossible with hard work and the help of our brothers and sisters. (sorry if this seems a bit rambling, it's late and I am wiped out). Side note: your art always does what it should...start great debate even at 0206 CDT
