International Water Rescue Train-the-Trainer Academy

This intensive 3.5-day training program is designed to train Water Rescue and Swiftwater Rescue Instructors to conduct NFPA 1670 compliant Water Rescue and Swiftwater Rescue Awareness, Operations, and Technician level courses. Instructor candidates must have approval by their department's chief officer or Training Officer in order to participate, and candidates must be in good physical condition, be strong swimmers, and have prior teaching experience. Instructor candidates will participate in 32 hours of instruction, including classroom and practical sessions conducted in a swimming pool and in a moving water environment. Tuition includes lodging (Thursday through Sunday), and meals (Friday through Sunday), as well as all books and materials. The 2010 Academy is the fifth annual Academy. To date, Lifesaving Resources has trained and authorized over 300 Instructors from throughout the United States and Canada.
