I am a big believer that all rigs should have at least one static hosebed off the rear. A great set up is the FDNY bed of 6 lengths of 1 3/4" over 12 of 2 1/2". Now the friction loss is negated, there are no gated wyes to contend with, and the str...

Bro Three inch is a lot of weight. I don't have problems with the couplings as much as I would have with older constructed buildings. The banisters or the newel posts may not hold up well, if they are made of wood construction.. If you have a well...

When you teach 50 rookies in a single class, anything can happen and it did. Honestly, the main reason for us not likint it is that we use 2 1/2" hose and smoothbores. The low pressure systems do not allow this to work. Also, contingencies as in h...

Hey Russ,

Thanks again,

Art

Russ I didnt mean for it to sound like we were flowing 200GPM with 1 3/4 hose those numbers came straight off the flow chart for friction loss. We gey 180 out of our 1 3/4 and 210 out of our 2in line. I was trying to get across that they need to do their own test with their own equiptment sorry for the mix up Brother

Alternative Hose Stretches

How many of you drill on alternative hose stretches on a regular basis? Is your training stuck on just laying a LDH feeder and pulling the 1 3/4" pre-connect? Or do you think "out of the box"? How is this perceived by your crews?
