Fire Engineering’s Handbook for Firefighter I and II
Contract Sales Representation



PennWell is seeking regional sales representation for its forthcoming fire basics book. This highly-anticipated text was written by a select team of highly-respected fire service experts and edited by Glenn Corbett, Fire Engineering magazine’s technical editor. In the spirit of this text’s material, we believe that fire service professionals are the best choice to help us debut and sell our Handbook across the U.S. and Canada.

Qualifications

 Currently employed in the fire service field with experience in fire service instruction
 Self-driven with the ability to work independently
 Experience in asking for and closing the sell
 Experience in selling to fire departments is a plus
 Willing and able to travel regionally as necessary
 Strong phone-based presentation skills
 Knowledge of current training methods such as PowerPoint and e-learning products.

Responsibilities

 Qualify fire departments, academies, state agencies, and other potential customers within territory to ascertain their “basics” book purchasing procedure.
 Make appointments with fire departments to demonstrate the features & benefits of the FE Handbook and all ancillary products, as well as answer any related questions.
 Participate in a weekly conference call to communicate all sales activities for the previous week, including information on prospect’s procedures and contacts.
 Coordinate sales orders and proforma invoices with PennWell’s inside sales representatives.
 Represent PennWell at regional events as requested.

Compensation

 10% of net revenue on orders placed through PennWell inside sales team
 Pre-approved travel expenses reimbursed

Hope all is well. I will be at FDIC from the 23rd on. My class is in the morning of the 24th. I will be willing to work in the book store for the DVD at any time you wish. Sorry I did not get back sooner. I was waiting for our court date. Of all the days the US Supreme Court is hearing our case on the 22nd on merit based promotions. We have a story in News Week next issue.

That sounds like a great job, too bad Alaska isn't a little closer to the lower 48 for me to travel. I love this stuff and the only trouble with living here is ...trying to get down there and then back again. I would possibly interested in selling for Alaska....let me know.
