Bio:
While conducting research on firefighter culture and coronary health outcomes at the University of North Carolina, I have developed a firm understanding of the processes and outcomes of occupational related disease and injury, both intentional and unintentional, including associated health services delivery in this arena. I have a great passion for research within the emergency response community, specifically to help North Carolina’s firefighters and others across the nation.

My primary focus has led to a deeper understanding of the culture of physical fitness, workplace fitness program adherence, and coronary health outcomes, yet I also have a greater respect for the numerous occupational hazards that a unique population such as firefighters are exposed to on a daily basis; hazards not only leading to the high rate of on-duty death due to underlying coronary heart disease and subsequent heart attack, but also the high rate of unintentional injury from job related tasks such as fire suppression. This also includes the unfortunate number one cause of unintentional death in this occupational group: vehicular incidents.

Greetings,

We have created a site for responders run exclusively by responders... It is a place with great fellowship on the good days and solid and confidential support when the "bad call" happens. As a Chaplain of over 25 years we wanted a place that responders could come and receive the support for traumatic events with trained CISM responders and more.

Please join our site and invite your friends, too
