Profile Information

Residence.
North Pole Alaska
Department:
Ft. wainwright Fire Dept.
Title/rank:
Captain
Years of public service:
15
Agency structure:
Paid fire department
Top issues in your department:
I work for a career federal FD and the issues are pretty miniscule right now, but with the new administration (POTUS) we'll see where defense spending goes and how it effects us.
I also have Volunteered with a fairly busy FD (the community I live in) and the issues are almost exclusively retention. Recruitment is good but its truly retention of quality people that hurts us. Funding is what it is, the tax payers will get the best service that they pay for, realistically they always get a better service than they pay for.
Professional Qualifications:
FF I-II, Officer I-II, Instructor I-II, HAZ-MAT tech, RIT inst, Truck Co. Ops inst,
Topics you provide training for:
Truck Co. Ops, RIT inst, Engine Co. Ops,
Areas of expertise:
Engine Co. Ops, Truck Co. Ops, Tactics/strategy.
Bio:
Grew up in small town AK. Started in the fire service in Fairbanks and stayed here. Currently working at Ft. Wainwright fire dept as a Captain on E-91. Teach at UAF fire science program and for the State of Alaska fire service training.
And I now own a small business selling coffee at Firehouse Coffee.
