-Chris, I would agree that there will be some FDs that entertain the idea of bringing back some of the POC or volunteers as a way of cutting staffing and saving he budget. One of the things that the proposers of these ideas have not considered is th…

Ok, so I remembered where I saw the article regarding the FD looking at entering into EMS because it's numbers were down. If you are interested go over to Dave Statter's page, http://www.wusa9.com/news/columnist/blogs/davestatter.html and page dow…

-The short answer is, I agree with both statements. -Being a professional firefighter that has responded to many fires, I believe, after all this time, that the fire service as an institution do not put enough emphasis in to fire prevention. -Is it…

I've been worried about the same thing. Things always seem to swing in extremes. We went from a service years ago that looked at safety being for wusses, to now being beat over the head with the safety stick, some departments in my area have already…

Chris, Good topic. We are not necessarily putting too much emphasis on other areas as much as we have little choice to change as the fire service in general is changing. I am sure you would agree that the implementation of fire prevention in this c…

Greetings Brothers and Sisters. Recently I have come across two very interesting articles that really caught my attention, although I am being a poor author by not being able to remember which trade journals I read them in. Please forgive me. The fi…

Chris,

Help yourself. If it works for you and you think it would help, have at it.

Chris,

Great job by the Brothers on this one. There were three men pinned with about 18" of space in the cab of the cargo truck between the tanker and the semi. Using Three spreaders, two cutters, sawz-alls and four or five rams, they had the three out and in awaiting ambulances in 35 minutes. Five transported in all. The Brothers showed their skill and ability to improvise. Thanks for the kind words,

Chris That's great you're going to get made!!!. What a chnage it will be . Now instead of just wqatching your self on the fire ground you 'll be watching the entire crew. Also you need to give orders to the FF's nd receive orders from the chief. Then in addition to all this , when you're first due you're the IC. If you're like me, you'll enjoy it because the challlenges are great but rewarding. I think the "Common Sense Firefighting " will be good for anone who is or wants to an officer. Bensenville also has more good things comming in the near future. I can't let the cat out of the bag but I know it will soon be announced. If we don't get a chance befroe hand, I 'm sure we'll meet soon after the announcement in person

Thanks for responding to the "Common Sense Firefighting" page I see we are almost neighbors. We're trying to make it a leadership and decision- making page for Firefighters who might want to get to be officers in the future.
Take Care
