Deputy Fire Chief (Ret)

Chief Murphy retired as the Deputy Fire Chief with Eastside Fire & Rescue (Issaquah WA) and Fire Chief of the City of Sammamish (WA) after 32 years of service. He is a practicing attorney licensed in Washington and New York focusing on employment practices liability, training safety, employment policy and practices; litigation support; forensic evaluation on fire and EMS operations; internal investigations and consulting on risk management for private and public entities.

He is the principle in the Murphy Law Group and Vice President of M2 Resource Group, Inc., a consulting company specializing in Fire and EMS legal and operational issues and a Physicians Assistant. Chief Murphy a frequent conference speaker and contributing author with Fire Engineering Magazine.

Chief Murphy’s past medical and fire experience includes; paramedic firefighter for more than 20 years; Chief Fire Officer; Chief of Training and Chief of Operations; Health and Safety Officer; a promoter and facilitator of health-care issues in the fire service and a practicing Physicians’ Assistant since 1977 with a focus in emergency care and family practice. Chief Murphy was a US Navy Corpsman serving with the Marine Corps.

Chief Murphy has a Juris Doctor (JD) from Seattle University School of Law; Masters of Science (MS) and Bachelors of Science (BS) in Education from Central Washington University, graduated from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine, Physicians Assistant Program (MEDEX) and is an Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Graduate.

He is a member of the following Associations: Association of Fire Service Attorneys; National Society of Executive Fire Officers; International Association of Fire Chief’s (IAFC); ISFSI; Washington State Bar Association; King County Bar Association; New York Bar Association, U.S. District Court Western District of Washington and a former member of the Washington Fire Chief’s Association. He is an Adjunct Faculty with the University of Florida's Fire and Emergency Service program

    Tumwater is going great.  Keeping busy with the family and work.  I dont know if you heard or not but my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  She is currently going through chemo and doing pretty well considering.  We set a website up for her treatment.
