New person here, but got a question. Our department is have a docu drama during our open house on fire safty week. We are going to show the public on how and why we do vehicle extraction. But the trouble is i dont know a good way to present it to the public....any suggestions??

We had the same problem. I took a haligan bar and bent the hood back and raised it up enough so we could use are hydralic cutters on the hood lock and assembly cutting both of them and opening up the hood. We have done this in training and it has been working for use. Give it a try in training first to see if it works for your department.

And by the way. It was an OLDS. Battery was under the washing fluid. Which was under the cross strut. Firckin engineers!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys. I have a question. Had a vehicle accident today. The car was rear ended. No damage to the front end. The drivers door was pinned shut. Air bags were not deployed.Drivers window up and in tack. Long story short. Trying to pop the hood to access the battery, to cut power from the air bags. While we were extricating. Could not access the hood release or the cable. Had to go straight for the latch. My question is. What is the best way to do this and what tools to use. Jaws were being used elswhere and had a prob with them. Couldn,t use a sawsall, gas everywhere. We eventually got it with two halligans, a spud bar and brute strength.

Did anyone catch Ron Moores web cast on the tests experiment done on ultra high strength steal? It had a lot of good info on this steal and it's location on the more common vehicles on the road today. It also showed some tips on how to deal with it. (Sorry to fireengineering for commenting on a competitors web cast, but it is a very good training article and heads up to all.)
