Pride and Ownership: A Firefighter's Love of the Job

Tell us…
...what ceremonies you’re conducting to get them fired up.
...what traditions you have in your fire department.
...about the history of your department and your department’s heritage.
...how you expect your new firefighters to treat the job.
...how you expect your company officers to treat their men and women.
...what chief officers can do to boost morale and create that atmosphere of ownership.
...what issues we’re facing in today’s fire service.

Chief, Great Session @ the Alabama Fire Chief's annual meeting!  Your stuff is like "chicken soup for the firefighter"!  Thanks for the inspiration, hope we can get you back here again soon and spread the word...

Chief, was so pleased last tour to find on of our new rookies sitting in the back of the station reading your book. It started a conversation and his eyes lit up when I showed him my cook book with your foreword in it you had written for me. Thanks for the inspiration, hope to see you soon.

Just heard that Chief Lasky is coming to Orange Beach, Alabama for the Alabama Fire Chief's Association annual meeting - time for a little "recharging" of the soul!

Chief, I think your  "Pride and Ownership, a firefighters love of the job" presentation should be reviewed by every firefighter in America annually until we bring the Brotherhood and Tradition in the fire service back to where it should be.

I love our heritage. I love the brass poles, dalmations, shined up boots, riding backwards, washing trucks, sitting around the dinner table talking fire, playing pranks and joking with the guys. That since of pride on my boys face when he tells his friends that his dad is a fireman, and  priviledge to put that uniform on in the morning every third day. Your presentation inspires me and takes me back to that feeling I had on day one. Thanks again.

Chief Lasky,

The Chief and I are looking to create some ownership into our department with a ceremony of promotion or new hired firefighter. We are looking for a "Oath of Office" to be used as the procedure, to build the ownership and the pride into our department. Our Police Department has one the Mayor uses, but am looking for something fire related. Any ideas? Please forward a copy. Thanks!
