Where firefighters come to talk training

Why is change hard to accomplish in the fire service when it comes to new tactics or equipment? I will start this by saying that sometimess we just don't know what we don't know. We think that what we are doing works well or at least good enough.

In regards to not knowing what we don't know. Sifu Bruce Lee said "that before he started training 'a punch was just a punch and a kick was just a kick.' Then as he developed his art a punch was not just a punch and a kick was not just a kick. But after he mastered his art it turns out A PUNCH IS JUST A PUNCH AND A KICK IS JUST A KICK."
In other words sometimes we overcomplicate our job. The problem isn't with the new dudes but with us older dudes. I recognize it and welcome change.
